Xbox may no longer be exclusive to Windows Phone
Inside Mobile App is reporting that Microsoft may bring more Xbox Live features to competing platforms like iOS and Android. I’m taking the story with a grain of salt, but recent developments in the past few months give me doubt, such as Kinectimals coming to iOS. According to Inside Mobile Apps, a Microsoft spokesperson made the comment to them that:
“while the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices. To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms.”
While Microsoft has always been a software company at first, if they bring killer features from Windows Phone to other platforms what can differentiate themselves in a very competitive smartphone field. The Metro Design Principles and Language can only do so much, if they bring stellar software to other platforms user may not have a reason to pick up a Windows Phone if it can accomplish the same tasks.
